My Story
I grew up in Aberdare, a town in the South Wales valleys about 40 minutes north-west of Cardiff.

After starting piano lessons aged 7 and performing throughout school, I began playing for church services on the organ aged 14, accompanying choirs and joined a band aged 16 and attended a National Youth Jazz Wales summer course aged 18.

Whilst studying an undergrad in Computer Science at Swansea Uni I was also Music Director for the Choral Society. The society had a lot of success, winning a number of awards and gaining many loyal members, many of whom I'm lucky to still call friends today.

After graduating, I decided to persue music as a career and studied a 2 year MA in Composition at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. At the same time, my choir Rechoir began with a number of former Swansea Uni Choral Society friends as founding members, and we're still going strong today.

Since completing my Master's I have forged a varied portfolio career encompassing roles from rehearsal pianist to MD and copyist to composer. I enjoy the creativity and problem solving that comes with creative jobs such as orchestrating and composing, but I also love being in the room with other creative minds when projects require rehearsing, playing and workshopping.

At present, I'd identify the key aspects of my career to be Music Direction, Conducting, Orchestrating, Keyboard Programming and Playing (piano, organ, accordion and keyboards). These roles allow me a good balance between the often solitary creative side of the business and the more sociable and collaborative side.
My Work
As well as freelancing with many ensembles and productions, I also hold/have held a number of perminent positions with institutions and ensembles.
